Formed in Verona, Italy, in 2015, Micetones began as a study driven project exploring the jazz language, initially focusing on reimagined arrangements of standards. In the early years, rather than a fixed ensemble, the band functioned as an open workshop—testing form, harmony, and collective interaction beyond stylistic constraints.

After several lineup changes, in early 2025 the group settled into a stable quartet: Matteo Prevedelli (sax), Lorenzo Tomelleri (piano), Matteo Valle (Bass), and Davide Leonardi (drums). That moment marked a shift toward original material, fueled by the members’ diverse musical backgrounds.

Elements of metal and progressive rock—especially odd meters and complex rhythmic structures—intertwine with a strong foundation in mainstream jazz, resulting in a sound that resists easy labels. At the core are interplay and improvisation: composition sets the frame, not the limits, leaving room for spontaneity and real‑time dialogue.
